Overview

The Sennheiser GSP 300 gaming headset boasts good sound quality and durable construction at a reasonable price, basic core features but good execution of the neccesities.

With trying to fit this headset into a price range that can be considered relatively cheap for the sound quality Sennheiser has done away with any additional extras.

In-depth

The Sennheiser GSP 300 is made mostly from chunky plastic, however its not cheap feeling like a lot of low cost plastic headsets and instead has a lightweight and comfort adding purpose to it. The frame is dark and angular with the headband cushioning covered in a bright blue, this says gaming headset more than its other offerings.

The microphone continues this tradition with a thick plastic bendable arm giving a good amount of confidence in the robust design. The headphone cups are covered in faux leather and the padding itself is soft meaning that the seal around the ears is achieved really easily.

THere is a big volume wheel on the right earcup and the microphone can be lifted out of the way but it is not detachable, beyond that there isn't really anything else on the headset itself. Basic but functionable.

The Sennheiser GSP 300 connects via a double 3.5mm jack to create a plug and play experience, and if you want to connect to a console or your PC only has one 3.5mm jack this comes with the double 3.5mm jack adapter so plug it in and away you go on any device.

There is no fancy software and no surround sound which to us isn't a deal breaker and the sound itself is very good as you'd expect from a company like Sennheiser. The frequency response gives a little dip in the low end which makes this perfectly suited for both gaming and music.

Giving a natural sound and dipping the bass leads to a good level of clarity which is fantastic to hear the sounds in a gaming environment as emphasized bass can often mean the small sounds get drowned out.

Similarly for music this is an excellent response to have as it creates a clarity across the whole sound meaning the music is delivered to your ears in a much more natural way and can really help with ear fatigue.

Combine the excellent sound with the really good isolation and you have a bit of a winner in terms of sound at this price range. The mic is good too with a smililarly small bass dip in the frequency delivering a clear vocal sound from the mic itself.

If you want a gaming headset which sounds great across the board and you want to pay under £100 without needing all the additonal extras this is a solid pick.
